(More customer reviews)I initially decided to try this stuff in hopes of healing my son's eczema on his face. I had tried several prescription meds. Of which would only work for a day. So after I read all the rave reviews on this I decided to buy a couple pounds...well, it worked! His eczema finally healed after a week or so of applying moRning and night. I also have been using it as a diaper cream on both my babies (no rashes since I started using it). Now, I have had months of experience with this stuff, one awful smelling tub (of which was replaced for free with an extra "ivory" tub)... And after researching more deeply have learned that this is NOT real Shea Butter! I became skeptical after discovering the horrible expired tub. After all, this seller said this product does not expire. Then I opened and smelled the "ivory" tub and it smelled like chemicals. This made me realize this was not the real thing. Turns out all this is is African Butter dyed yellow. A totally different tree.Yes, it works ok. And yes it helped heal my sons skin. But I feel duped. After purchasing REAL Shea Butter elsewhere, I can see, feel, and smell the difference. And no more yellow stains!!!!

(More customer reviews)I've tried a lot of moisturizers, and this is easily one of the best at handling very dry skin.Compared to all the other pure shea butter products I've tried, this is my favorite.

It has a nice mild scent.In terms of effectiveness at handling dry skin, I prefer it to all the popular lotions and creams, including Eucerin, Cetaphil, Lubriderm, etc.It's far less greasy and gets absorbed faster than heavy moisturizers like Eucerin cream or Aquaphor.

It's not a light moisturizer.If you something light, stick with a lotion (I recommend the latest Aveeno brands lotions with Shea or Oatmeal).

(More customer reviews)My parents recommended this for me as they had used it in the past. I have now used it for about a month, every other day or so and my hair feels firmer and is easier to style as well.

This is the procedure recommended that I follow:
1. Overnight, put oil on my hair. Coconut or any other that you wish.
2. Wash it off in the morning with this soap and use any conditioner of choice.
3. Enjoy nice hair.

(More customer reviews)I have a case of acne caused by a hormone-causing tumor. In 6 years I have tried everything(Proactiv, Neutrogena, Clearasil, Clean & Clear, Cerave, Cetaphil and many more). Although these products are really good, they did not work for my situation. One day an Indian manager from the store I worked gave me one of her Medimix bars to try it. In the second wash my face started to heal. I used the entire bar but I did not know where to find it and she told me to go online. I am so satisfied with this soap that I ordered 6. To be honest, the first time I opened the box I thought that it would burn my face because the fragrance is strong but I decided to give it a try. I was trying anything by that point... I was desperate for help for my face. When I used it I did not feel any burning, in fact, it was pretty easy on my face, even in winter. For the first time in 6 years my face is clear. I use it whenever I need to wash my face and it has not dried my skin at all. After spending a lot of money and efforts on my face, I will always be thankful to the lady that made the approach and gave me the soap to try it. I am stuck with it ever since! I would recommend it even for people without any skin problems, as a matter of fact, the lady that gave it to me does not have any skin issues or acne and uses it as her regular face soap.

I would say try it... It is worth it.

32oz. African FILTERED CREAMY Shea Butter from Ghana Review

(More customer reviews)On the recommendation of my dermatologist, I started using Shea Butter for a severe case of eczema that I've had about 2 years now.The eczema is pretty much all over my body (with just a little eczema on my hands, face, and scalp; and none on my feet), so I've been using alot of theShea Butter.Since this is the first time I've used it, I can't say if good Shea Butter is what I'm about to describe.

It's been 3 weeks since I started using the Shea Butter.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS
==================
-It's like wax, but melts when rubbed on your skin.
-For large areas, I use my thumb to crack the butter and then rub it between the palms of my hands and the consistency becomes more spreadable.
-For smaller areas, I rub the butter with my fingertip and it melts the butter.
-It covers well and even makes water bead up on your skin.Washing it off your hands afterwards is a little hard.
-Initially, it was very greasy and I spent alot of time waiting for it to soak in (30 min+).It may have been because I put too much...not sure.
-People have described the smell as 'nutty."It's not a bad smell, but is noticable.Some days more than others.Some days not at all.If you're using just a little, it should be no problem.In the volume I use it, I can smell it.
-It didn't have immediate medicinal properties.I would put it on places that were dry and/or itchy and it didn't seem to do anything (not like some of the other stuff like Gold Bond or Aquaphor)...but, read on.

THREE WEEKS LATER
=================
-After using it religiously, it has made a big impact on my skin.
-Applying it to problem areas, these areas are now healing and discoloration from the eczema are lightening.
-I don't know if my skin is absorbing it faster, or I just don't need to put as much on, but it started feeling much less greasy after about a week of using it.

Other lotions and creams I've tried...
Cetaphil Lotion, Cetaphil Cream, Eucerin Lotion, Eucerin Cream, Aquaphor, Lubriderm Lotion, Sebamed Lotion, Sebamed Dry Skin Lotion, Azulene, Calendula, Floursone, Cerave, Bag Balm, and Gold Bond.While all are fine products, none of them has helped me like Shea Butter.

Not knowing there was Western and Eastern versions, I got the Western. I may try the Eastern version, but so far, I've found this Western type to be excellent.

CONCLUSION
==========
Shea Butter didn't have immediate benefits, but has helped me over time (although a couple weeks isn't long).The only caveat I have is that I am using a medium strength steroid, but I've used it with all the other lotions/creams too.While products like Aquaphor or Gold Bond seemed to have immediate benefits, neither of them had long term benefits.It is a bit greasy, but if you're using it in small quantities, it shouldn't be a problem.Using it now for 3 weeks, I've really seen a difference.I've had some bad flares in certain areas that are now just discolored.Alot of the discolored areas seemed to have lightened.I've taken a small jar and use it when I'm out and about.Any area that becomes itchy/dry I apply it as much as needed.I've applied it more on problem spots and they've all gotten better.I've also put it on my face.Makes me more shiny than my normal shine, but seems to be making my skin less dry. Overall, it's helped me quite a bit.

It's been about 3 months now and I've used about 64oz.I'm a firm believer.When I flare, the Shea Butter (over a few days) helps.I would say that there are others things I need to watch, but for my skin, this has worked (by far) the best.I'm on my 3rd order and each batch has been a little bit different.The original ones were more blocky.This last one is a lot smoother.They all 'melt' and become spreadable.The smoother one just melted faster.But, overall, they all seem to work the same.I've also found that getting the 16oz container makes it easier to get the Shea Butter out when you get to the bottom of the container.The 32oz is a little deep and it's hard to get to the Shea butter when you get to the bottom.This has been great stuff.Ordering is easy and delivered in a timely manner.The cost is very affordable (especially for the quantity that you get).

100% Organic West African Shea Butter 16 oz Review

(More customer reviews)I have been using Shea Butter for several years now and works wonders on my dry aging skin. Over the years I have found that whipping it makes it creamy and easier to use than in its natural form right out of the container.When you get your butter, empty the contents of the plastic container into your stand mixer (use paddle attachment) and mix at low speed at first to keep it from flying everywhere. Then increase the speed a little at the time.The butter will gradually heat up from the agitation and will become smooth.At this point you may add a couple of drops of essential oils to make it smell good or you can add a little jojoba oil which will double your moisturizing power.Please note that if you choose to heat Shea butter, do it gradually and at very low heat (I use a double broiler when I need to heat it) because it has a very low heat tolerance, if overheated you will end up with a gritty consistency that is not correctable. Note: if you do not have a stand mixer, you can use a hand mixer, but it takes a while to get it soft and creamy, so consider having a buddy to do relays on holding the hand mixer.
