Seventh Generation Ultra Concentrated Natural Baby Laundry Detergent 50 Fluid Ounces Review

Seventh Generation Ultra Concentrated Natural Baby Laundry Detergent 50 Fluid Ounces
Average Reviews:

A real gentle and fragrance-free detergent that washes cloth very well. It also removes most stains if you soak the cloth before washing.
We liked it much more than other detergents for baby items and started to use it for our own laundry. And it's environment-friendly!

Seventh Generation Laundry Concentrate, Free & Clear, 50-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) Review

Seventh Generation Laundry Concentrate, Free & Clear, 50-Ounce Bottles
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The detergent has worked well for us so far.

That said, I'm not extremely picky. We typically wear casual clothes and aren't inspecting every load to determine if a stain came out, or if a color faded.

My only complaint with this, and actually most Seventh Generation products, is that the bottle size is too small. In the end, the small packages result in more package waste. A bottle twice this size would have less packaging that needed to be recycled per ounce of detergent. I speculate that they are trying to mask their higher prices with smaller portions. There's no need. We all know we're paying a little more.

I also had an anomaly with my shipment. I ordered a case of Free & Clear only to find the first bottle had a lavender scent. Not sure if this was a mixup by Amazon or Seventh Gen. Finally, the bottles appeared to leak some in shipment. I had to wash at least three of them off in the sink prior to putting them away. Once wasn't a problem, but if this became a constant thing it would be annoying.

Product Description:

Seventh Generation 2X Laundry Concentrate is tough on dirt but gentle on your clothes and the environment. This non-toxic, biodegradable, and phosphate-free laundry concentrate is specially formulated for high-efficiency and standard machines and is completely free of all irritating and potentially harmful scents.
Completely Natural Cleaning Power for Your Clothes
Seventh Generation 2X Laundry Concentrate is tough on dirt and stains, while being completely free of phosphates, optical brighteners, bleach and other ingredients that are harmful for your and your environment. This concentrate is made from a low-foaming blend of naturally derived cleaning agents (coconut-derived surfactants, glycerin), natural water softeners, alkalinity builders, and anti-redeposition agents (sodium citrate, borax), non-animal-derived enzymes to remove protein and starch stains and protect fabrics, plant-derived anti-foaming agents (glycerol monooleate, oleic acid), and cleaning enhancers (calcium chloride).
Non-toxic, hypo-allergenic, biodegradable, and Kosher-certified, Seventh Generation 2X Laundry Concentrate is completely phosphate- and dye-free, is safe for septic and greywater systems, and has never been tested on animals.
What's Wrong with Phosphates and Optical Brighteners
Phosphates are natural minerals that, when used in detergents, can reduce water hardness, which allows the detergent's soap to clean more effectively, and prevent dirt from being redeposited back onto the items being cleaned. However, once the phosphates are released back into the environment via household wastewater, the results can be disastrous to the environment.
Phosphates encourage algae growth, which directly leads to a decrease in the oxygen supply in water ways--a situation that can ultimately leads to the deaths of living organisms, and eventually the entire waterway.
Similarly, optical brighteners have long been used to clean our laundry. They help mask any yellowing that may be present in the treated material and makes the material seem brighter and whiter than it would otherwise naturally appear to the eye by creating an enhanced "whiter-than-white" surface that doesn't get clothes any cleaner but simply makes them look that way.
Many of the chemicals in optical brighteners, however, are toxic to fish and other aquatic life, are slow to degrade, and can cause mutations in bacteria. And in terms of human health, exposure to optical brighteners, which remain on laundry by design, can cause eye irritations and skin reactions in sensitive individuals.
Why Clean Naturally?
Unlike many conventional laundry concentrates detergents, the Seventh Generation 2X Laundry Concentrate does not create unpleasant fumes, will not leave harmful residues, and is safer for the environment. Plant-derived cleaners are made from renewable resources rather than from petroleum. Studies show that making household cleaners from plant-derived materials uses less energy than making the same cleaners from petroleum. Using less energy helps reduce emissions of greenhouse gases.
If every household in the U.S. replaced just one bottle of 50-ounce 2X petroleum-based liquid laundry detergent with the Seventh Generation 2X Laundry Concentrate, we could save 233,000 barrels of oil, enough to heat and cool 13,400 U.S. homes for a year! Additionally, thousands of tons of phosphates and other harmful chemicals will be removed from our ecosystem.
Also, concentrated laundry detergents come with great environmental benefits. Each bottle of 2X concentrated detergent is half the size of a bottle of regular laundry detergent and washes the same number of loads. In addition to requiring less fuel to ship the detergent to you, the entire manufacturing process is more efficient--using less water, less packaging, and less fuel.
Free & Clear of Fragrances--Because You Want it That Way
Our sense of smell is powerful and evocative. Experiencing a scent unfold can transform our mood, transport us to distant places, or connect us through a shared experience. But many people are sensitive to fragrances or dyes, or prefer unscented products. This Free & Clear Laundry Concentrate is made entirely without fragrances.
Many conventional products call their products "free," but in fact mask the smell of their surfactants (detergents) with added fragrances. Seventh Generation products are truly free and clear of added fragrances, and have been confirmed to be hypo-allergenic through independent testing.
About Seventh Generation
Seventh Generation offers a complete line of natural household products designed to work as well as their traditional counterparts, but use renewable, non-toxic, phosphate-free, and biodegradable ingredients as often as possible, and are never tested on animals. Seventh Generation products are healthy and safe for the air, the surfaces, the pets, and the people in your home--and for the environment outside of it. Every time you use Seventh Generation products you make a difference by saving natural resources, keeping toxic chemicals out of the environment, and making the world a safer place for this and the next seven generations.

Tiny Bubbles Detergent, 6 Pack, Yellow Box Review

Tiny Bubbles Detergent, 6 Pack, Yellow Box
Average Reviews:

We started cloth diapering nearly 3 years ago and have had many versions of Fuzzi Bunz, Bumgenius and Happy Heiney diapers. It was a struggle to keep using cloth. It seemed like everytime we turned around we had rashes..leaks..buildup...stripping. Then the velcro on all our bumGenius went out...followed by the elastic in our 8 months old Fuzzi Bunz.I spent a ridiculous amount of time changing my wash routines hanging around diaper forums trying to figure it all out.Diapering shouldn't be so difficult.

Gro Baby was my "last shot" (as my husband put it) at cloth diapering. We're 6+ months in and LOVING our Gro Baby diapers.I have 14 Shells and 28 Soaker Pads.I only use 3-4 Shells a day and 10 pads.I wash every couple of days and my loads are so tiny. They fit my now potty learning toddler and our infant perfectly.I'm a total convert and wish I had started with Gro Baby.

TIPS:They say to wash on warm and hang the shells to dry which really does seem to work (not sure why), I let my shells airdry between changes if the mesh inner is damp.Other than that they are super simple to use.

Really the coolest diaper we've tried!

Kookaburra Sheepskin 16-Ounce Shampoo and Woolwash Review

Kookaburra Sheepskin 16-Ounce Shampoo and Woolwash
Average Reviews:

I have a lambskin that was starting to look a little dingy.I went online for advice on how to launder it, and the general consensus of what I found is to wash it in cool water with a specially formulated wool wash, and then use a wire brush to comb it out before letting it airdry.I went with the Kookaburra Woolwash on the Amazon website because it was less expensive than the other woolwashes I found online.I am so happy to say that the lambskin came out of the wash looking gorgeous, clean, and fluffy!I didn't have to brush it out or do anything special to it.I just hung it to dry.The skin itself is still soft and supple.

I love this detergent! It is the only detergent that takes all of the smell out of my childrens' cloth diapers. I have tried diaper detergent and none of them have the same result. I don't have any problems with wicking or leaking after using this detergent even though it has essential oils. If anything it helps to take the urine smells out of the fabric. I have even started using this on my clothes and am amazed at how clean everything comes out. I would recommend this to anyone that uses cloth diapers or just wants a natural efficient detergent.

Product Description:
3 Large 5.57 oz (150g) bars. This is the large bath size, not the small hand size bars.Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap was first produced in the early 1930's by Bradford chemist Fred Mitchell who realised that the natural lanolin content of wool fat, which kept the hands of local sheep shearers and wool sorters so exceptionally soft, could also be beneficial to delicate complexions and sensitive skins A simple and natural product, Mitchell's Wool Fat Soap is still made to Mr. Mitchell's original formula, based on a recipe from the turn of the century and incorporating lanolin from the wool fat as the key ingredient. Although no medical claims are made for it, this very gentle soap is particularly soothing to sensitive skins.
