(More customer reviews)This product "tie dies" any dark cotton items you wash in it.I couldn't figure what was going on...was it the dyer cloth I was using?Did I spill some bleach in the wash? Let me tell you, do NOT use this on dark cottons, you will have white patterns like you "tie died" it.On whites it seems to do OK. But I have ruined way too many of my black and navy cotton shirts for me ever to use this again and I bought a ten pack of the stuff. Very dissappointed in the product. Would never recommend it to anyone.

(More customer reviews)We started cloth diapering nearly 3 years ago and have had many versions of Fuzzi Bunz, Bumgenius and Happy Heiney diapers.It was a struggle to keep using cloth.It seemed like everytime we turned around we had rashes..leaks..buildup...stripping. Then the velcro on all our bumGenius went out...followed by the elastic in our 8 months old Fuzzi Bunz.I spent a ridiculous amount of time changing my wash routines hanging around diaper forums trying to figure it all out.Diapering shouldn't be so difficult.

Gro Baby was my "last shot" (as my husband put it) at cloth diapering.We're 6+ months in and LOVING our Gro Baby diapers.I have 14 Shells and 28 Soaker Pads.I only use 3-4 Shells a day and 10 pads.I wash every couple of days and my loads are so tiny.They fit my now potty learning toddler and our infant perfectly.I'm a total convert and wish I had started with Gro Baby.

TIPS:They say to wash on warm and hang the shells to dry which really does seem to work (not sure why), I let my shells airdry between changes if the mesh inner is damp.Other than that they are super simple to use.

Really the coolest diaper we've tried!

(More customer reviews)It should be noted that I use the Free & Clear version of this, it is hard to find, but does exist.

I searched long and hard for just the right detergent for my reusable cloth menstrual pads and I found it in this product. Most of the reviews on washing performance for reusable cloth products is on diapers, but much of that applies to pads as well. This product was highly recommended, the regular and free & clear version. They don't lift the color or damage any waterproof linings (like PUL) and it's amazing at removing blood, which is known to be very difficult to remove. No new horrible stains for my liners or clothes. I use cloth pantyliners as well and tend to hand-wash those and my pads and this doesn't dry my hands out the way Woolite does. It is very concentrated just a little fills the sink and washing machine up with suds, but it rinses clean in warm or cold water. I have very sensitive skin and tend to get stains on my clothes because of my part-time job and this product is tough on the stains, but gentle on my skin.

I wish I had bought this sooner, I could have prevented some permanent stains that Woolite, nor All could rid my liners of. Though use of this detergent combined with Bac-Out did lessen those old stains a bit. I'm very happy with this product, it is far superior to the name brand detergents, is biodegradable unlike almost every detergent you will find at the grocery store, no animal testing or environmental damage of other kinds and since it is concentrated it is comparable in price to brands like All and Tide. If you are not comfortable buying online then check your local specialty grocery stores, they may not carry it in the store, but often like one near me, can special order it for you from their warehouse.

(More customer reviews)I have an elderly cat with bladder problems.I wanted to eliminate the urine odor and not eliminate the cat.Bac-Out was recommended to me at the health food store and I was amazed at the results!In the past I used a white vinegar/water solution, but Bac-Out works even better.I have used it on carpet (no stains!) and bedding with excellent results.

I have also used Bac-Out to wipe down walls and it eliminated "smoker smell" from an apartment I moved into.I buy it in bulk and use it often.I love this product so much, I've even shared it with friends.

It's fabulous - there is absolutely nothing about it that I don't like. By using it, I also learned that when I do use regular detergent, I can use a TON less than I used to.

The best part about this detergent is that everyone I've told about it also loves it - and they say that they never wouldhave known it was environmentally friendly if I hadn't told them (meaning...it works exactly the same as their old brand)

(More customer reviews)The description says that it containes Enzymes for ultra cleaning power, then right on the bottle it says "No Enzymes" plus the last shipment I purchased of the free and clear was 32 loads a bottle and this is only 16 loads a bottle. It does not work well, I have had to boost it with Borax and even then its not great. Very disappoineted in the misleading discription. I would not recomend this Except for wools and silks as stated on the bottle but NO WHERE in the discription.

The one disappointment about this particular product is that it's not officially formulated to perform in both toploading and frontloading washing machines. All the information about the right dose and how many loads you can get out of each box relates to usage in toploaders. I called Seventh Generation about this and they said that they currently only have one product they explicitly recommend for frontloaders: The liquid Lavender bottles (listed here with Amazon's ASIN B0009LAIDY).

So, I guess I am a little disappointed that a company tryint to explicitly sell sustainable products (and doing a great job at it), hasn't quite come around to catering to the owners of the more and more common, and much more efficient, top-loading washing machines.

Here is the equation:
"For a cold water wash, use 3-5 shells and re-use up to four times in the same day. For a warm water wash, use 2-3 shells and re-use up to two times in the same day.

The shells are same-day reuseable -- once the shells have been moistened, they begin to naturally break down. If the moist shells are kept for use on a subsequent day, you may find that they have become moldy. Discard the shells in your garden mulch pile."

(More customer reviews)About a year ago I was desperate.I was trying so hard to find something that would get my husbands uniforms clean.He is a garbage man and comes home covered in so much mistery grime it isn't funny.I had tried Tide, All, store brands, and every type of color safe bleach and pretreater out there.Nothing worked.His work clothes would still be heavily stained, and there were times he would come home on a rainy day saying his clothes reaked as soon as they had gotten wet.

I decided to do net search.I came across a lot of posts from diaper sites saying how great Charlie's was and how clean everything came and how well it removed the smell.Although I was not in search of a diaper detergent, I figured if it could clean those well enough maybe it would work for my problem.I went to their website and checked out their products and the information on them.I am so happy I did.

Charlie's truly does clean.My husband's clothes come out virtually stain free.Which is not bad considering what he gets on himself.The odor problem stopped too.I can use it on all of our laundry from delicates to play clothes, so there is no need for me to have multiple products lying around.It is made to work in Regular or HE machines, so when I switched my machines I did not have to find a new brand.

Other added benefits are: you do not need fabric softener, it is one of the safest detergents on the enviornment, it actually helps keep our clothes almost like new, and it is absolutely awesome for our sensitive skin.In addition to that, it safely maintains the flame retardency of childrens sleep wear and maintains the properties of many other types of working gear as well.It is also very cost effective.It costs less per load than All, Tide, Seventh Generation, and many others.You will also get a better clean than you would with any of the afore mentioned.

The company is also extremely customer orientated.They still practice the almost gone tradition of actually caring about their customers.With any purchase they offer free literature giving advice on hard water, diapers, and first time users (if ordered through them directly).Just make sure you check what literature you need on their order form.They will also answer any questions you may have.

Many have not heard of Charlies.Many will ask if it is so great why isn't advertised nation wide.Well, they are an old fashioned company.They believe word of mouth is far more important than some fancy expensive advertising gimic.Anyone can advertise anything, but only the best products achieve gradual fame through word of mouth.Charlie's Soap is one of those products.

I have tried other detergents that claim to do what Charlies does.One of those being Country Save, but there is nothing I have found that cleans as well as Charlie's soap.

I know it seems I am really excited about this product. Well, I am and I always will be.For the first time, I found a product that does what it says it does."It really cleans."When was the last time you could say that about a product?
