(More customer reviews)It should be noted that I use the Free & Clear version of this, it is hard to find, but does exist.

I searched long and hard for just the right detergent for my reusable cloth menstrual pads and I found it in this product. Most of the reviews on washing performance for reusable cloth products is on diapers, but much of that applies to pads as well. This product was highly recommended, the regular and free & clear version. They don't lift the color or damage any waterproof linings (like PUL) and it's amazing at removing blood, which is known to be very difficult to remove. No new horrible stains for my liners or clothes. I use cloth pantyliners as well and tend to hand-wash those and my pads and this doesn't dry my hands out the way Woolite does. It is very concentrated just a little fills the sink and washing machine up with suds, but it rinses clean in warm or cold water. I have very sensitive skin and tend to get stains on my clothes because of my part-time job and this product is tough on the stains, but gentle on my skin.

I wish I had bought this sooner, I could have prevented some permanent stains that Woolite, nor All could rid my liners of. Though use of this detergent combined with Bac-Out did lessen those old stains a bit. I'm very happy with this product, it is far superior to the name brand detergents, is biodegradable unlike almost every detergent you will find at the grocery store, no animal testing or environmental damage of other kinds and since it is concentrated it is comparable in price to brands like All and Tide. If you are not comfortable buying online then check your local specialty grocery stores, they may not carry it in the store, but often like one near me, can special order it for you from their warehouse.

Seventh Generation 2x Liquid Laundry Detergent, 32-Ounce Bottles (Pack of 6) Review

(More customer reviews)I was surprised to see the the super negative comments over a laundry detergent. So, I decided to speak up and let you guys know what I see.

I have a front loader machine that uses HE soap. I am looking at my early empty HE CHEER bottle at this moment. Absolutely NO specific ingredients at all. It states in one line on the back of the bottle "Includes biodegradable surfactants (anionic and nonionic) and enzymes." I mention this because some reviewers are upset about the label on the 7th Generation bottle. Let's now look at that one...

First off, the bottle of 2X 7th Gen is 1/3 the size and so the label area is considerable smaller.The larger CHEER bottle did not bother to tell us what things are inside but the little 7th Gen. bottle took the time to inform us consumers.It is NOT difficult to get to. Turn the bottle over, look at the back of it. The lower left side has an arrow and states to PEEL BACK LABEL, which it peels quite easily. It has a nice, easy to read list of ingredients for you to scrutinize over; feel free to Google away.

The concern over the "sodium laureth sulfate" should be researched if you are concerned that you are going to eat the soap. The ingredient is used to make the bubbles. The warnings I found for this ingredient were ALL for ingesting or long exposure from cosmetics and shampoos.I saw no warnings if used in laundry detergent and even if used in shampoo, there is no evidence to support that the trace amount will harm you. There are warning to discontinue using toothpastes that contain it as...you may be ingesting the substance and the last I checked... it is not wise to ingest ANY toothpastes or soaps for that matter.

The label is clear on how to use the product; it is easy to read and large enough print to read without strain. They pack a lot of data on the little bottle compared to the 100fl oz bottle of CHEER I have sitting next to it.

I have washed all colors and different degrees of dirtiness...not yet have I seen any tainting of colors or dirt left behind!I chose the Free & Clear as I am sensitive to some smells.

At this point in time I have to wonder what is going on with the other users??It may be something in their water is reacting to the ingredients? Water Temperature? Mixed colors in the same load and did not notice that one would fade?Maybe someone added bleach to that load???

There are lots of reason a product may not work. I really do not understand all the low ratings and comments as I have not seen anything that they are. I wash everything on Cold water with the exception of whites but I think I will give that a try too and see if there really is a difference using hot or cold water. Maybe that is another myth I have been clinging too. I will give it test next load of white socks with the 7th Generation here and see what happens!

I am very pleased with the product. If I remember I will let you know what happens with the soap, no bleach, cold water, and dirty whites.

6/11/2009 update here!

Have been washing multi-colored loads now just to test this soap out! I am pleased to inform that not one...not one color is fading, there are no weird spots showing up and my whites are still white!

With washing the load of dirty white socks in cold with only this detergent, I find the whites are still white. The really dirty heel of the sock that was stained for months already is still "dingy" but what can we expect?That is why they make additive to remove ground in dirt.

So conclusion:

This product works. Colors are still bright. Whites are still white. No spotting or staining and I have been TRYING to get things to bleed. I do not see what the others are doing to get such horrid results in their wash. I am the average person with a dog and cat outside. I have horses and my jeans get nasty at the bottom of the legs. I spill juices and food on my shirts and still... they come out clean! I even used it today as a pre-treatment to a blood stain from 2 days ago. Came out clean clean clean!

I like the smaller bottles for storage and for use. I like the dye free and smell free quality. I like that it takes a VERY LITTLE to wash my clothes AND it cleans my stuff.

Hope this helps with your decision to try or not to try.

(More customer reviews)I try to be a good environmental consurmer, but I won't use a natural product that doesn't work.I've used Seventh Generation for over 5 years in a new dishwasher, and have had no problems.I have a septic system now, so I don't like to use bleach, but even when I lived in a city, I used this stuff. I've run out a couple times and had to use Cascade for a day or two (I live in the country -- they don't stock this stuff here) and my dishes were no cleaner than with 7th Gen. which is way better for people and the environment.

I have read that dry dishwashing powder can get bad if it is old, so I only buy two boxes at a time.Perhaps the reviewers who've had problems are using old product.I think it absorbs moisture when stored under your sink, and may then clump in in your DW.

I use vinegar in my rinse-aid container or Liquid Jet Dry.

(More customer reviews)I am a cloth diapering momma and have a limited selection of detergents that I can use with my cloth diapers. I can't use anything with dyes, perfumes, enzymes or whiteners. So products like Tide and Method are out for us. So I found Nellie's and did a little research and found that it is all natural and has none of the yucky stuff in it that we can't use and therefore it is the PERFECT detergent for cloth. It causes no build up that could lead to odors and diaper rash and it rinses clean every time. One spoonful (spoon is provided) will clean an entire large load of laundry and it is HE friendly, we have a top loader and it still works wonderfully. And the packaging is SO CUTE (and eco friendly)!

After I found how great it is with cloth diapers, I had to try it on our clothes. So, I started with the smelliest thing I could find (and was about to be thrown away because the smell stain was that bad) so I found my the shirt that my husband had left on the floor a few times and the cat found. I had tried to wash it with our old detergent and some baking soda and a vinegar rinse... it always smelled afterward the washing. (really my cat hates this shirt and we don't know why) With one wash in Nellie's the smell was GONE! So I tried it on my oldest daughters clothes and they came out so clean and fresh and softer than ever! So I ordered some more Nellie's, gave my brother in law all of our old detergent and went exclusively to Nellie's. We also use Nellie's dryer balls so that means we do not use any oils or chemicals on our clothes and I can tell a huge difference in the condition of our clothes, they are always light and fluffy.

Greenfeet has great customer service as well. I had emailed them with a problem and my email was answered within minutes and the problem was solved and they were so polite and friendly. I was really impressed! I know the shipping cost seems kind of high, but they do use eco friendly shipping materials-- no packing in plastic bubble wrap or even plastic tapes on the box so if the Earth is a priority for you at all like it is for me, it is SO worth it!

I completely recommend this detergent and company!

(More customer reviews)I ordered this small package of soapnuts to give them a try before I committed to a big "economy" size and just came back to order the bigger package.I am very happy with them.They clean every bit as well as my old detergent (all free and clear) and are easy to use, the same price (actually cheaper in bulk) and of course all natural.I first found out about them thru researching washing cloth diapers.My baby isn't quit here yet so I really can't say definitively how well they will do, but they got very strong urine smells out of my 4 year old's sheets and blankets when he had an accident no problem.

(More customer reviews)I have not used another brand of soap nuts except naturoli. Then again why would I when it is just fantastic?! I once thought the price is kinda hefty since i bought a smaller one to experiment. Then i see this deal and i felt like a fool for not buying this instead. In the beginning i chucked the soap nuts in cold water with my wash and i was not too thrilled about the results but I decided, for earth i will endure a semi clean shirt. But as i reread the Naturoli site (Lots of wonderful info) i boiled it and oh man.. I LOVE IT! The smell is so natural and beautiful. I hate fragrance detergent. I've been getting my sister to use it but my brothers find it a hassle to have to put it in hot water first so they dont. grrr.

But it is has been a heaven sent. When I see such a product I wondered why humankind ever even created commercial detergents when this stuff is so much better?

Oh, and i love how its a plant. It will force people not to deforest and plant more trees. I have absolutely no complaint about these soap nuts. The only thing maybe is i have to boil every time but its well worth it!
