(More customer reviews)This product "tie dies" any dark cotton items you wash in it.I couldn't figure what was going on...was it the dyer cloth I was using?Did I spill some bleach in the wash? Let me tell you, do NOT use this on dark cottons, you will have white patterns like you "tie died" it.On whites it seems to do OK. But I have ruined way too many of my black and navy cotton shirts for me ever to use this again and I bought a ten pack of the stuff. Very dissappointed in the product. Would never recommend it to anyone.

I also did a lot of research on which laundry detergent to use. This powder is awesome. It got my whites whiter than any other all natural detergent I have ever used. I would definitely try it. (More customer reviews)I was looking for an organic "body wash" that wouldn't leave my skin dry and itchy. I read the reviews on this and decided to give it a try. I am thrilled with the results! Yes, it is what some have described as a "dirty" brown color. Don't let this turn you off. It does have a slightly sweet smell to it, very vaguely like molasses to me. However, the suds are not brown, and the scent does not linger on your skin at all. It does not leave my skin feeling sticky or oily, just soft and clean. I also no longer have the itchy dryness I got from using commercial body washes with all the chemicals in them. I have washed my hair with it, and had no issues with it there either. I had some other shampoo that I needed to get rid of, but am having an issue with dry flakes from it. I will try this since shikakai is also a natural cure for dandruff. I do recommend using a pouf or sponge when using as a body wash if you really have to have lather.

(More customer reviews)To have this much cleaning power come from a small 8-ounce bottle is difficult to believe at first. But it really is true. I've seen nothing that compares to it. To be a natural surfactant (detergent) makes it even more incredible.

I've been writing quite a few comments about soap nuts, and firmly believe they are carving a niche into a market that has been dominated by big business and chemical producers for the last century. To see something like this that's "off the chart" in almost all ways is remarkable. There are a few brands that embraced the potential of soap nuts, but this is uniquely different - way ahead of its time. Even the big boys (with all their resources) haven't come up with anything so effective, and genuinely safe and green.

Don't expect miracles with this or any soap nut product. Nothing does everything. That's unrealistic, particularly for a natural detergent. I haven't thrown out my Spray N' Wash, or Oxyclean yet. But I can tackle 75-80% of my normal laundry and cleaning needs with just this single product. That's a huge step in the right direction. Interestingly, what it doesn't do well, it offers lots of other benefits to offset the shortfalls. It's hard to explain what "soap nut" clean is like. Softer...fresher...less wrinkles...no chemical itch...no detergent smell...zero skin irritation (I love what it does for my jeans! They have never felt this soft and comfortable.)

The results from 18X is as close to using the raw soap nuts as it gets. And it works better in some scenarios. Obviously it is very convenient to use. The pump is awesome. No more measuring. Measuring without spilling such tiny amounts was my only beef.

I've commented about how some soap nut products may be improved imo. In time we'll likely see improvements in other products, but this is at the pinnacle of saponin (soap nut extract) cleaning technology as it exists today.

Although I hope that it goes unsaid, the environmental impact of 18X must be incalculable. See the picture that compares it to the products it replaces. That picture tells the whole story. It is no wonder why it is winning so many awards.

(More customer reviews)I am a cloth diapering momma and have a limited selection of detergents that I can use with my cloth diapers. I can't use anything with dyes, perfumes, enzymes or whiteners. So products like Tide and Method are out for us. So I found Nellie's and did a little research and found that it is all natural and has none of the yucky stuff in it that we can't use and therefore it is the PERFECT detergent for cloth. It causes no build up that could lead to odors and diaper rash and it rinses clean every time. One spoonful (spoon is provided) will clean an entire large load of laundry and it is HE friendly, we have a top loader and it still works wonderfully. And the packaging is SO CUTE (and eco friendly)!

After I found how great it is with cloth diapers, I had to try it on our clothes. So, I started with the smelliest thing I could find (and was about to be thrown away because the smell stain was that bad) so I found my the shirt that my husband had left on the floor a few times and the cat found. I had tried to wash it with our old detergent and some baking soda and a vinegar rinse... it always smelled afterward the washing. (really my cat hates this shirt and we don't know why) With one wash in Nellie's the smell was GONE! So I tried it on my oldest daughters clothes and they came out so clean and fresh and softer than ever! So I ordered some more Nellie's, gave my brother in law all of our old detergent and went exclusively to Nellie's. We also use Nellie's dryer balls so that means we do not use any oils or chemicals on our clothes and I can tell a huge difference in the condition of our clothes, they are always light and fluffy.

Greenfeet has great customer service as well. I had emailed them with a problem and my email was answered within minutes and the problem was solved and they were so polite and friendly. I was really impressed! I know the shipping cost seems kind of high, but they do use eco friendly shipping materials-- no packing in plastic bubble wrap or even plastic tapes on the box so if the Earth is a priority for you at all like it is for me, it is SO worth it!

I completely recommend this detergent and company!

I have stained my clothes with beet juice, carrots, grass stains, and even soot and it gets rid of it all on it's own! The smell of the clothes afterwards is fresh and pleasant, like they have been sundried. The organic lavender scented is great too. Plus, while the package says to use an ounce per load, I have found that using a mere capful from this small bottle works just fine. It lasts for several months, unlike the petrochemical kirkland signature stuff that comes in a huge tub but lasts 1 month....
If you are sensitive to chemicals or simply sick of smelling that fake fragrance on everything around your house, do try this, it's great.

The skin is the largest organ of the body, and is "naturally" covered by an oily substance known as Sebum. This thin layer of oil, produced by the Sebaceaous glands, creates a barrier on the skin called the Acid Mantle, which serves several basic purposes. Because it is naturally acidic (ph of 4.5 avg), it protects the body from viral and bacterial infection, it acts as a barrier from internal dehydratyion, and the oily characteristic keeps the skin soft, supple and pliable.

Yet, we in the Western world are taught to bathe everyday, and on top of that no-no, the vast majority of us bathe with harsh alkaline soaps and cleaners which strip away this oily barrier, leaving the skin dry, rough and unprotected.
